Clock format

The alarm rings only while this page stays open and your device is awake and not muted.

How to use it

  1. Choose "12-hour" or "24-hour" under "Clock format".
  2. Enter the "Alarm time" and, if you like, a "Label" such as "Team call" or "Leave for the station".
  3. Pick a "Sound" and click "Test" to hear it.
  4. Click "Set alarm" and keep the page open.
  5. When it rings, click "Stop" or "Snooze 5 min".

What it does

  • Large, clear clock

The current time is shown in big digits, in 12-hour or 24-hour format.

  • Labels for reminders

Add an optional label so you know at a glance what the alarm is for, such as a call, a pickup or a meeting.

  • Test the sound first

Choose a sound and play it before you rely on it, so there are no surprises.

  • Snooze 5 min

Need a few more minutes? Snooze, and the alarm rings again five minutes later.

  • Screen kept awake

On supported browsers, the page keeps your screen from going to sleep.

Good to know

A browser alarm is handy at a desk or on a laptop: a reminder to leave for the station, join a call, take a break or check the oven. Because it runs in a web page, it comes with conditions. The alarm only rings while this page stays open, the device is awake and the sound isn't muted, so closing the tab, letting the computer sleep or muting it means you won't hear it.

For waking up in the morning, a phone's built-in alarm is the more dependable choice, because it can ring while the screen is locked. Before you rely on this page, click "Test" to check the volume, and check your power settings so the computer doesn't go to sleep before the alarm time. If you only need to count down a set amount of time, the Timer is simpler.

Questions and answers

Will the alarm ring if I close the tab?

No. The alarm rings only while this page stays open and your device is awake and not muted.

Can I snooze the alarm?

Yes. When it rings, click "Snooze 5 min" to hear it again five minutes later, or "Stop" to turn it off.

Can I switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time?

Yes. Use "Clock format" to choose "12-hour" or "24-hour" digits.

Can I use this as a wake-up alarm?

Only if the device stays awake overnight with this page open and the sound on. A computer or phone that goes to sleep won't ring, so a phone's built-in alarm is the safer bet for mornings.

How do I make sure I'll hear it?

Pick a sound and click "Test" before you set the alarm, and check that your device isn't muted.
