Meme generator
Turn a picture of your own into a meme with the familiar bold top and bottom text, or with a caption on white bars. There are no built-in templates: you bring the image.

What it does
The classic meme look
White letters with a black outline in a heavy sans-serif: Impact when your device has it, otherwise Arial Black or another bold sans-serif. Korean, Japanese and Chinese text uses a bold font from your device.
Text that fits by itself
The text size adjusts automatically so each line fits across the picture. Move the "Text size" slider when you want it bigger or smaller.
Caption bars
"On white bars" adds white strips above and below the picture with black text, so the image itself stays uncovered.
Extra text boxes
Add more captions, each with its own text and size. Drag them with a mouse, finger or pen, or select one and move it with the arrow keys.
Colors and outline
Change the text color, the outline color and the outline width from 0 to 10, and switch "ALL CAPS" on or off.
Good to know
A meme works best when the text is short and the picture tells half the joke. Keep each line to a few words, put the setup at the top and the punchline at the bottom, and leave "ALL CAPS" on for the traditional look; it only affects Latin letters, so other scripts stay as you typed them. On a busy picture, a thicker outline keeps white text readable, and the white bars style avoids covering faces or details.
Use pictures you have the right to share, such as your own photos and screenshots or images you made yourself. The meme is saved as PNG or JPG, by default the same type as your original, with -meme added to the file name, and camera details like the GPS location are not copied. Because everything happens in your browser, a private photo never leaves your device while you try out captions.
Questions and answers
How do I make a meme with my own picture?
Open the picture, type the top and bottom lines, and click "Create meme". Then click "Download" to save it.
Are there ready-made meme templates?
No. The generator works with a picture you choose, such as a photo from your phone or a screenshot.
Why does the font look different on my phone?
The text uses Impact when your device has that font. Where it is missing, the generator falls back to Arial Black or another bold sans-serif, so the letters can look slightly different from one device to another.
Can I write in other languages?
Yes. Korean, Japanese and Chinese text is drawn in a bold font from your device. The "ALL CAPS" switch changes only Latin letters.
Can I add more than two lines of text?
Yes. Click "Add text" for each extra caption, type it, set its size and drag it wherever you want. "Remove text" deletes a box you no longer need.
Will a watermark be added to my meme?
No. The saved image contains only your picture and your text.
