Profile Picture Maker
One everyday photo from your phone is enough. The AI cuts you out, places you on a studio, painted or light-dot background, and tidies skin and light while keeping your face your own.
Add one photo of your face — a selfie works (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC).

Tips for the best result
- Face a window or soft light; avoid strong light from behind.
- Hold the camera at eye level, about an arm's length away.
- Keep your head and shoulders in the picture with a little space above the hair.
- Look straight at the camera with a relaxed expression.
- A plain background makes the cut-out cleaner.
Your photo stays on this device. Only the AI model files (about 25 MB, once) are downloaded from this site.
Tints you slightly towards the background colour and lets its light wrap around the outline, so the photo looks taken in that place.
Retouching needs a face looking towards the camera. Try a photo where the whole face is visible.
Shows how much of your own face is kept. Changes to face shape, eyes and nose lower it most; 90% or more looks natural.
Drag the picture to move it. Pinch or use the mouse wheel to zoom.
A transparent background is saved as PNG (JPG cannot be transparent).
Files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use it
- Tap ‘Choose file’ and add a photo that shows your face. On a phone you can also use ‘Take a selfie’.
- In ‘Background’, pick a look such as Studio grey, Painted brown or City lights. You can also blur your own background or use a picture of your choice.
- In ‘Retouch’, tap Natural, Bright or Clear skin, then fine-tune items like skin smoothing, dark circles or whiter teeth with the sliders.
- In ‘Mood’, choose a feel such as Film or Black & white and a face light; in ‘Framing’, set 1:1 or 4:5 and face, head-and-shoulders or upper-body framing.
- Choose the size (1080 or 2048 px) and format, press ‘Save picture’ and download it.
What it does
Retouching that keeps your face
Ten separate controls: smooth skin, spots, even tone, dark circles, eyes, teeth, lips and three small shape changes. Shape changes are capped, and the ‘Face kept’ bar shows how much of your own face remains.
20 studio-quality backgrounds
Grey, navy and beige studio light, painted backdrops, pastels, sunset and ocean gradients, golden and city lights – drawn in code, so they stay sharp at any size. Any colour, blurred original, transparent or your own picture also work.
Blending that looks real
The old background colour is cleaned out of hair edges, and the new background's colour and light wrap slightly around the outline, so you do not look pasted in. The outline can be softer or crisper.
Framing for profiles
Your face is placed automatically for 1:1, 4:5, 3:4 or 9:16 and straightened to eye level. ‘Show round crop’ previews how it looks in round profile frames on messengers and social apps.
12 moods
Natural, soft, warm, film, vintage, black and white, noir and more, each with a strength slider, plus face light, brightness, contrast, warmth and darker corners to finish.
Good to know
Studio portraits look good mostly because of three things: the backdrop, the light and the retouching. This tool does all three in your browser. A portrait-matting AI separates you from the background down to the hair, places you on a backdrop drawn in code and adds a soft light on the face.
The most common complaint about AI headshot services is that the results do not look like the person. This tool never redraws your face: it keeps the pixels of your own photo and limits retouching to skin, light and small, capped shape changes.
It does not change your pose or clothes. That would need a server-side generative AI that redraws the photo, which means uploading it and often changing the face. Following the photo tips – face a window, camera at eye level, shoulders in the picture – makes a bigger difference.
Questions and answers
Is the profile picture maker free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark and has no daily limit.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Face detection, cut-out, retouching and blending all run in your browser on this device. Only the AI model files (about 25 MB) are downloaded from this site the first time.
Will retouching make me look like someone else?
The default ‘Natural’ setting works mainly on skin and light and hardly touches face shape. With the ‘Face kept’ bar at 90% or more you still look like yourself, and any slider at 0 changes nothing.
What kind of photo works best?
A front-facing photo where your face is large. Face a window so there are no shadows on your face, and keep a little space above your head and your shoulders in the picture. A plain background gives cleaner hair edges.
Can it change my pose or outfit?
No. New poses and clothes need a generative AI on a server, which means uploading your photo and risking a different-looking face, so it is not included. Framing, backgrounds, light and mood change the impression instead.
Can I use it for passport photos?
For photos with official sizes, use the ID & Passport Photo Maker on this site. It crops to each country's size and head height and checks the rules. Official documents generally do not allow face retouching.
