Good to know

Papers and e-book PDFs often have wide margins that make text tiny on phones and tablets. Trimming them lets the page fill the screen, and also removes dark scan edges or headers you don't need.

Cropping shrinks the visible area of each page, so content outside it is still inside the file. For personal data that must be removed for good, use another method rather than cropping. If the content sits in different places on different pages, check a few pages with the preview's page buttons.

Questions and answers

Can I crop PDF margins for free?

Yes. There is no cost or account, and the cropped file carries no extra marks.

Can I crop just one page?

Choose "Page range" under Pages to crop and type the page number; only that page is cropped.

Is the trimmed part deleted?

No. Only the visible area shrinks; the content outside is still in the file and can be brought back in an editor.

Find margins didn't fit well.

Use it as a starting point and drag the frame to adjust. Page numbers and headers count as content.

Does cropping lower the quality?

No. The page content is left untouched and only the visible area changes, so text and pictures stay sharp.
