Good to know
Twenty minutes suits jobs that need a real stretch of time but not a whole hour. It is a common length for a power nap, a study block on one topic, a language practice session or a tidy-up sprint through one room. In the kitchen it covers many oven dishes, such as a tray of vegetables or a frozen pizza, though ovens differ, so check the food as it nears the end.
For a nap, choose a sound you will notice under "Alarm sound" and use "Test" before you lie down. The timer works while this tab stays open and the device is not muted, so leave the page open and the volume up. If you will be in another room while the oven is on, turn on "Desktop notification" as well.
Questions and answers
Can I rely on it for a power nap?
Yes, as long as you check the sound with "Test", set the volume and leave the tab open. If a missed alarm would cause real problems, set a backup alarm on your phone too.
Can I use it for study sessions with breaks?
Yes. Run this page for the work block, then tap "5 min" under "Quick start" for the break, which starts straight away. The Pomodoro timer on this site has an option to start the next session automatically.
Do I need to stay on this page while a dish cooks?
No, you can work in other tabs or windows. Just do not close the tab or reload it, because that stops the countdown.
