Good to know
Forty-five minutes is a familiar block of time. Some school lessons run about this long, a football (soccer) match is played in two halves of 45 minutes, and the length also fits a gym session, a long run or a music practice with a warm-up and a cool-down.
A long countdown is easiest to follow when it stays out of your way. Put it in full screen on a classroom display or a gym screen, or leave it in another tab and glance at the time left in the tab title. If the game or the class is interrupted, "Pause" holds your place and "Resume" carries on. Closing or reloading the tab ends the countdown, so keep it open until the alarm sounds.
Questions and answers
Is there a 45-minute button under Quick start?
No. "Quick start" covers 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30 and 60 minutes. This page is already set to 45 minutes, so click "Start", or change "Hours", "Minutes" and "Seconds" for any other length.
Can I get a warning before the 45 minutes end?
The timer has a single alarm, at zero. For an earlier warning, run a 40-minute countdown first by typing 40 in "Minutes", then use the "5 min" button under "Quick start" for the last five.
Can I use it to time a match half?
Yes. Click "Start" at kick-off, and use "Pause" and "Resume" if you stop the clock for injuries or a break in play. When the alarm sounds, 45 minutes of running time have passed.
