Age calculator

Enter a date of birth to see exactly how old someone is in years, months and days, and when the next birthday falls.

How to use it

  1. Enter the "Date of birth" with the date picker or by typing the date.
  2. Leave "Age on" at today's date to see the current age, or pick any past or future date. The "Today" button puts the current date back.
  3. Read the "Age" in years, months and days. The result appears as soon as the date is entered.
  4. Below it you will find the "Next birthday", with its date, the days until it and the age you will turn, and the "Total months", "Total weeks" and "Total days" lived.

Good to know

Age is counted in completed units. The calculator counts full years since the date of birth, then full months, then the days left over, so someone born on 15 March is still the younger age on 14 March. Total months, weeks and days lived are listed too, which helps with milestones such as a 10,000th day.

The "Age on" date does not have to be today. Set it to the first day of the school year, the date of a trip or the day an age limit applies to see how old someone will be then, or choose a date in the past to see how old a person was at an event. It cannot come before the date of birth. Age limits and cut-off dates differ between organizations, so check the rule that applies to you.

People born on 29 February count their birthday as 1 March in years without 29 February, and the next birthday shown follows that rule. The full Date Calculator, which also counts the days between two dates and adds or subtracts time, is one click away in the breadcrumb.

Questions and answers

How do I find out how old I am, exactly?

Type your birth date under "Date of birth". With "Age on" left at today's date, the "Age" line shows your age in years, months and days straight away.

How old will I be on a future date?

Change "Age on" to that date, for example the day of an exam or a trip. The "Age" line updates immediately.

When is my next birthday?

The "Next birthday" line shows the date, how many days away it is and the age you will turn. On the day itself it says "That is today".

What if I was born on 29 February?

Your birthday is counted as 1 March in years without a 29 February, and the age and the next birthday are worked out the same way.

How many days old am I?

The results include "Total days", together with "Total months" and "Total weeks", counted up to the "Age on" date.
